Carpet Selection Guide
Following are key components to assist you in making the right choice for your carpet needs and ultimately one you will be pleased with for a very long time.
Find & work with a reputable flooring retailer
Utilize the dealer search feature to locate an excellent Gulistan dealer in your area.
- Choose a reputable retailer, who is knowledgeable, who employs high-quality professional installers, stands behind their work, and has a “good reputation”.
- Ask for installers certified through the International Floor Covering Installers Association, Inc. (CFI) or similar association.
- Ask your retailer for a firm resilient carpet pad (cushion). A quality pad is necessary for a good foundation for your carpet, increasing its comfort, and extending its life by absorbing foot traffic impact. The carpet padding should be a minimum six (6) pound density and no more than 1/2” thickness. More information on padding can be found at the carpet cushion web site www.carpetcushion.org.
- Keep all receipts for carpet, padding, installation, and professional cleanings.

Choosing a carpet
Preferences in appearance, pricing, and colorations should always be your starting point.
“Aesthetics”, how a carpet style and coloration enhances your home, is the primary purpose for selecting a particular carpet. A carpets’ performance is not based on one sole criteria but a combination of several factors. These factors include the kind of fiber used in its construction; twist in the fiber; density of the product; and the PAR rating.
